Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started & Pricing
How does GEMINI pricing work?
GEMINI pricing is customized based on your specific study needs, including the number of participants, study duration, required features, and level of professional services support. We provide transparent quotes tailored to your research protocol and grant budget. Contact us for a personalized quote that aligns with your project requirements.
Do you offer academic or educational pricing?
GEMINI was designed by researchers for researchers, and we understand the unique budget constraints of academic research. Our pricing structure is already informed by feedback from academic researchers and is competitive with grant-funded research budgets. We're flexible and happy to work within your available funding while asking that you include GEMINI in future grant budgets. We also consider no-cost extensions (NCE) of research grants—if you provide evidence of an NCE, we'll work in good faith to extend your license term to match the NCE period (not to exceed one year) at no additional cost.
What's included in the licensing fee?
Your GEMINI license includes:
- Platform access for participant accounts and designated researcher accounts
- Complete ePRO measure library including all PROMIS measures at no additional cost
- Secure, HIPAA-compliant hosting with 24/7/365 monitoring
- Technical support via email during business hours
- Software updates and security patches
- Initial onboarding and basic platform training
Professional services (curriculum development support, custom questionnaire integration, additional training, etc.) are billed separately based on the scope of work outlined in your Order Form.
What is the typical study license term?
GEMINI licenses have an initial term of at least 12 months aligned with your study timeline. Licenses can be renewed annually as needed for multi-year studies. We understand research timelines can shift—if your grant receives a no-cost extension (NCE), we'll consider extending your license term to match the NCE period (up to one year) at no additional cost when you provide official NCE documentation.
Can I terminate my license early if my study ends sooner than expected?
Early termination terms are outlined in your Master License and Service Agreement. Generally, if your research grant or funding is terminated, you have the option to terminate your Order Form upon 30 days' notice with official evidence of funding termination. You'll have 30 days after termination to download your data before it's removed from the system. Standard early termination without cause follows the terms specified in your agreement.
Features & Capabilities
What types of studies is GEMINI best suited for?
GEMINI is designed for digital behavioral health interventions and can support a wide range of study types including randomized controlled trials (RCTs), comparative effectiveness studies, pilot studies, feasibility studies, and multi-arm protocols. It's particularly well-suited for studies requiring curriculum-based interventions, longitudinal data collection, participant engagement tracking, and integrated outcome measures. GEMINI supports both group-based and self-guided intervention delivery in clinical research, community-based research, and health education settings.
Can GEMINI accommodate multiple study arms with different content?
Yes. GEMINI's built-in content management system supports multi-arm study protocols. You can configure different study arms with distinct intervention content, control materials, or variations of your curriculum. Each arm can have its own content delivery schedule, assessment timing, and engagement features while maintaining secure separation between groups.
What ePRO measures are included in GEMINI?
GEMINI includes access to our ePM-WS (ePRO-measure Web Services) library containing hundreds of validated, ready-to-use patient-reported outcome measures at no additional cost. This includes the complete PROMIS catalog (item banks, short forms, and profiles) and many other validated measures. You can select and schedule any measures from our library to match your research protocol.
Can we integrate custom questionnaires or measures not in your library?
Yes. If your study requires questionnaires or measures not available in our ePRO library, we can incorporate them into GEMINI. This is considered a Professional Service and is billed at our standard professional services rate. You're responsible for obtaining any necessary licenses or permissions for third-party measures. We'll work with you to properly format and integrate these measures into your study protocol.
Can we customize which features are enabled for our study?
Absolutely. Major system functions such as group sessions, check-ins, discussion forums, and gamification features are optional and can be customized per your study needs. During setup, we'll work with you to configure exactly which features align with your research protocol and participant engagement strategy.
Does GEMINI support multiple languages?
Currently, GEMINI's interface is available in English. However, you can create curriculum content in any language, and many PROMIS measures are available in multiple languages. Multi-language interface support is on our product roadmap. If your study requires specific language support, please discuss this with us—we may be able to accommodate your needs depending on the scope.
How does GEMINI handle video content?
GEMINI doesn't host video files directly. Instead, videos are hosted on platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, or Brightcove, and GEMINI embeds them using URLs. This approach keeps your hosting costs separate and gives you flexibility in managing your media assets. GEMINI seamlessly integrates these embedded videos into your curriculum without additional hosting fees from us.
Study Administration
How do participants access GEMINI?
Can we control when participants access different parts of the curriculum?
Yes. GEMINI offers flexible content release scheduling. You can choose sequential release (where content unlocks progressively according to your timeline) or all-at-once access (where participants can access all content immediately). With sequential release, participants can always access current and previously unlocked content. You have complete control over the timing and sequencing of curriculum delivery.
How do we monitor participant progress and engagement?
The researcher dashboard provides real-time insights into participant engagement. You can monitor enrollment, curriculum completion rates, assessment completion, activity adherence (video/audio practices, written exercises, reading, journaling), community forum participation (if enabled), and group session attendance. All participation data can be exported in CSV format for detailed analysis.
Can we export our study data?
Yes. You can export comprehensive study data in CSV format at any time during your active license period. Exportable data includes participant enrollment information, curriculum engagement metrics, assessment responses with timestamps and scoring, practice completion data, community interaction data (if applicable), and longitudinal outcome measures. After your license ends, you have 30 days to download your data before participant-identifiable records are removed from the system per our data retention policies.
What happens to our data when our license ends?
Upon license termination, you have 30 days to download all study data in CSV format. After this 30-day grace period, participant-identifiable data will be deleted from our systems unless legally prohibited. This data destruction is documented and follows our HIPAA-compliant data handling procedures. De-identified aggregate data used for platform improvement (with no participant identification possible) may be retained in accordance with our privacy policy and your agreement.
Implementation & Support
How long does it take to get GEMINI set up for our study?
Implementation timelines vary based on your curriculum readiness and team availability. When you have draft curriculum content prepared and can dedicate focused time during implementation, studies can go live in as little as 6-8 weeks. For teams still developing intervention materials or managing multiple projects, we work at your pace.
